Patient guide
Before Your Surgery
Your written pre-operative instructions from our office always come first. This page is the general version, so you know what to expect while you wait for surgery day.
01
If you are having sedation
- Nothing to eat or drink for eight hours before surgery, including water, gum, and mints, unless your written instructions say otherwise.
- Take routine daily medications only as reviewed with us at your consultation. If anything changed since then, call before surgery day.
- Arrange a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you. Sedated patients cannot drive, and rideshare alone does not count.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing with short sleeves, flat shoes, and no jewelry. Skip makeup, nail polish on at least one finger, and contact lenses.
02
The night before
- Get a normal night of sleep and set out soft foods for after: think yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, smoothies for later in the day.
- Fill any prescriptions we sent ahead so they are waiting at home, not at the pharmacy while you are sore.
- If you develop a cold, fever, or cough before surgery, call us. Rescheduling is sometimes the safe call, and we will make it easy.
03
Arriving
- Park in the dedicated spots directly outside our ground-floor entrance at Preston and Lovers. No garage, no elevator.
- Arrive at your scheduled time; we build in room so you are not sitting in a waiting room getting nervous.
- Bring your photo ID, insurance card, and any paperwork we asked you to complete.
A note from the office
